  1. “Please call Stella.? Ask her to bring these things with her from the store:? Six spoons of fresh snow peas, five thick slabs of blue cheese, and maybe a snack for her brother Bob.? We also need a small plastic snake and a big toy frog for the kids.? She can scoop these things into three red bags, and we will go meet her Wednesday at the train station.”
I really think that’s asking rather a lot, especially from someone in Burma.

  2. bob bob bob.
this is my favorititest thing i’ve found on the interwebby for the longest time….

maybe someday EVERYONE in burma will have plastic snakes and toy frogs….

    i hope so.

  3. Oh, it’s delightful. I listened to a 64-year-old woman from somewhere in Spain stumble through the paragraph, pausing politely every few words to check if she had it right.
I wonder what she thought of English-speaking people. Is it common to ask someone to pick up six spoons of snow peas (how many snow peas fit on a spoon, anyway?) and five thick slabs of blue cheese and, oh yes, something for Bob as well? After all, he may get peckish when he sees me eat all that blue cheese.
Plus, it seems to me that two red bags ought to be all Stella would need to carry a few groceries and some plastic reptiles and amphibians home. How many days is it from Wednesday and does she want to ride on a train all that time with blue cheese?
